If you're a parent, you'll know how difficult it is to get the little ones to sit still for a certain amount of time. You'll probably stress at the thoughts of having a photographer take their portraits, worrying that they may misbehave, or get super shy, or won't smile for the camera.
Truth is, a lot of kids would rather be doing something else! And let's be honest, there's a big difference between our kids fake smiles and their gorgeous natural smiles.
I don't want your child to sit still and smile for the camera. They don't have to sit still, and they don't have to smile unless they want to. I want them to do what they like to do best, I want them to play, jump in puddles, explore, and have fun. Kids should be kids! they'll never be this young again, let them shine!
And I'll be there to capture it.
Kids being themselves and having fun makes for happier parents too, which makes for better photographs :-)
I use simple prompts/ posing in my family sessions, to help families interact to get those gorgeous expressions. A lot of the time I just photograph the kids doing what they want to do, with no prompting or posing what so ever, just to photograph them exactly they are.
In my opinion photographs should be as genuine as possible, which makes them so much more meaningful.
